INTernational development co-operation
The Fish Innovation Centre-project has carried out international development projects together with its partners who include government institutes, research institutes and private companies. The Fish Innovation Centre has a big network and good working relations with national and international development organizations and funding institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FAO and the World Bank. Project activities in the North Savo region have resulted in increased international relations and new markets have been opened for expertise, services and products. Cold water aquaculture development in Asia is for instance a new area for development co-operation. Technology transfer also opens up opportunities for innovation.
RESULTS
- Start-up of transfer of expertise in Finnish cold water aquaculture and technology
- Strengthened the level of technology transfer and capacity building in partner institutions
- Advanced the marketing of Finnish aquaculture, technology, feed and processing industries and opened up new markets
- Supported ecological, economical and social sustainability in aquaculture
- Increased the use of Finnish aquaculture expertise in international development co-operation
